Make a Good Impression on Buyers!
What to Keep in Mind When Emailing Buyers
Getting your brand into stores and boutiques is no simple feat. Buyers are inundated with emails from brands, reps, and whoever else might be vying for their attention 24/7.
Just like in everyday life, your first impression makes a huge difference in whether you get contacted or passed over from a buyer. Even if your initial email is just an inquiry, make sure that you represent your brand in a convincing manner. Here are some tips on important information to always include on your emails to buyers!
All relevant contact information
Make sure all your contact information is up to date! Phone number, mobile number, email, fax, address, etc. You don’t want to miss a call because you didn’t update your mobile number. Also make sure that there are no typos or misspellings.
Lookbooks, catalogs, linesheets complete with all information!
You would be surprised at how many brands send in look books/catalogs/linesheets with no price! Or maybe it’s missing important product information like sizes or material. Your look book might look great, but without all the information, buyers might pass it over because they don’t have time to chase you down for the information. It’s always good to include an order form with your email so if they want to purchase right away, they can.
If you’re on Brandboom, all this information will be included in your Presentation. Our system will make sure you don’t send out anything that’s incomplete.
Sometimes brands starting out will just send an email explaining their line and ask if the buyer is interested. You can explain all you want, but visuals are more effective than words. Always include visuals.
Links to your social media
Remember to link to all your social media and blogs so if the buyer is interested in your line, they don’t have to search for it. Some buyers will look at your social media to get a feel for your brand and decide whether or not it fits in with the direction of their store.
Make sure to spell their name CORRECTLY
Self-explanatory. Make sure you do your research and spell their name correctly.
Again, self-explanatory. Utilize the spell check option!
These are just some tips that we’ve gathered together based on experiences of our team members who were past buyers. Remember, first impressions last! Make yours a strong one!
