A letter to Shama (Written by Brandon Jefferson)

Before I was born a nest was woven for me. Made from your

history, your successes, your failures, and your love. I was expected. There is great

happiness and self worth in knowing a place for me was already made. The

greatest gift a mother can give is love. You are my gift. WE grow together. In the best words I can find, here is my response to you as a mother

With no foundation of love my example is Her.

She is my everything. 

Rooted inside the promise, "..That all things work together for those who love the Lord.."

She weaves a nest;

From Her history, Her failures , and Her success.

She expresses to me Her identity and Her definition of LOVE.

In Her discovery of motherhood,

In all that she has become,

In all that she has yet to become,

I dwell inside Her as she is.

She is my shelter. 

We mature together,

We are bonded

for everlasting seasons.

She teaches me and I inspire her to reach altitudes of joy

only mothers know,

She watches me grow.

I am Her time piece.

Embedded in me are the hours and seconds of her labor.

I am Her reflection of constant change , of mood swings,

smiles and pain.

I am Her decision.

I am Her responsibility.

I am Her treasure ,

Her test through time, 

Her persistence

and constant faith that it will always work out .

I am Her son, the youngest one.

I am Her struggle and Her trophy.

I am Her example of how God loves Her despite our

limitations.

As God breathed life into Adam,

There inside laid Eve,

There

inside laid Me,

A seed waiting to be planted,

Needing food, water, and shelter.

A provider and nurturer.

She is my example of Love

She represents my capacity to give and receive.

A capacity that I must strive to reach.

From Her arms I should soon leave

But she will always be a

constant example of love to me.
