08. Brandy Rusher
Why did you felt the need to rub people the wrong way with your attitude Brandy, why ? You had so much potential ! As you can tell, this post is going to talk about FRUSTRATION.
Brandy’s look didn’t wowed me when she first entered the competition ; the red affro thing was quite a mess honestly, and it didn’t read as model at all. However, makeovers happened (and I’m glad it was so early this cycle). After considering doing nothing to Brandy (thanks god things didn’t happened that way), they finally decided to remove it completely, and this is where I started considering her as a true model ; her look was much more striking this way.
Unsurprisingly, I started loving Brandy’s photo right after she received her makeover : her alien photo was fine, but slightly forgettable, while on her 1-800 flowers shot she had such an energy and a presence, and her zodiac sign photo was a gorgeous one. I would have love to see Brandy perform in other photoshoots such as the gas attendent and the ones taking place in South Africa, I honestly believe she would have the potential to build a very strong antm portfolio. All of that leads us to why things didn’t happen that way : her premature elimination in week 3 due to her behavior on set.
Week 1, she let everybody knows that she was upset of waiting her turn to perform the alien photoshoot. And if Nigel called her out on it, she acted like she just couldn’t give a damn about it. Later on during week 1, she openly expressed her annoyance towards her not getting a makeover, and when they finally decided to do something, Brandy was unpleased. Again. Week 3, she still was angry about the make up and styling on the photoshoot. It’s kind of hilarious, because even if Brandy was heavy drama material, she just pissed everybody off, leading the judge to eliminate her because they could not stand her behavior anymore. I am sure that she would have went on to continue the competition much further, because as I said she had a loud and strong personnality, while being a really good and promising model. She destroyed her chances to become a threat in cycle 4 herself, and according to her, just for sake of « being real ». WHY BRANDY !?
A good look, a promising and very solid portfolio, a decent walk ; Brandy had so much going on for her this cycle, I just can’t place her higher because she only got to stay for 3 weeks, and because she compete against a cast of very strong models (who eventually went on to demonstrate their potential). That’s why I decided to place her at 8#.
Brandy, why do you act this way?

Honestly, based on her performances she warranted a couple more weeks.
Thoughts:
Brandy was like someone had used a vacuum to suck out all of Cycle 3 Tiffany’s attitude issues and then dumped them into a new host. I don’t understand how Tiff didn’t pass the psych evaluation and yet Brandy did. In any case, she really did not project a very flattering image of herself for most of her screen-time. She was loud, mean, ungrateful and unapologetic. I will admit it did seem to stem from hefty barriers she was trying to place to prove that she was tough and the “real deal”, which is something that can be helped with time and therapy. Which is why I kind of wished she stayed for another week just because I truly believe Tiffany’s influence was the most positive thing she could get out of the competition. I think you could also see that in the quieter moments, there was a really nice girl underneath all that unpleasantness- her being supportive of Michelle when she came out or helping Tiffany when she was hungover are moments that come to mind. Brandy wasn’t the strongest model- her shots were all solid honestly, but again, most of them were very basic and didn’t show as much promise as other contestants. That coupled with her inability to smoother her demeanour on set sent her packing, however I will admit her elimination speech makes me teary-eyed. I wish her well, I really do.
9. Brandy
Everyone seems to agree that Brandy’s elimination was more so due to her behaviour and attitude rather than her performance this week. I honestly really like her pose here, especially with the pointed toes and how she placed her arms- it feels like a very delicate reimagining of a scorpion that is rather unexpected. The problem is that she is struggling to portray anything other than mean In the face, which has been making her rather one-note throughout the three weeks of the competition so far. Moreover, it’s a tough expression, but one that falls flat and doesn’t own the make-up she was given. Had she been able to punch through the lens then this honestly could have been in my Top 5 this week. Despite the shite conduct, I thought maybe Brandy could have been given just one more go since she wasn’t the worst model of the bunch and I also think Tiffany’s influence might trigger some change in how she carried herself with a bit more time.
8. Brandy
Something I noticed upon rewatch was that Brandy and the male model kind of mirror each other with their heads leaning to the left. While I’ll admit she looks effortlessly cool in the body, and that she’s doing a good job of making me want to buy that outfit off of her, her face is a bit too tough for me. While I don’t think commercial is her strength, she could have softened up just a little to keep a degree of warmth, at least enough to be approachable and not look like a mean dog. Plus her features looks slightly too small for her face- had she opened her eyes a little more and not curled her lip like so then this would be up a couple spots. Like Rebecca she’s lost an arm, but even worse she’s also lost the flowers completely. It doesn’t show any progression from last week.
6. Brandy
This clearly isn’t the most creative of shots. Brandy is doing the classic Modelling 101, but at least she is committed to it, which again proves that simplicity can work if you commit to it enough, especially over the overly-contrived hesitance that some of the other girls displayed this week. The outfit is showcased well, and the miffed expression works too even if it’s a recurrent go-to model looks. In short, Brandy stuck to the basics, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and she executed them well anyway. It shows potential for improvement.
I’m sorry, but why the hell is Brandy still here? She has such a bad attitude.
