“you two are freaks.” bren shook her head in that mildly judgmental kind of way, but ashley could see that the tension had eased out of her shoulders a bit. she was smiling -- ashley smiled back.
“speaking of little monsters, though. my mom’s dating some new guy -- pao pao or some shit -- and we’re supposed to be on a vegan kick now. so remind me to throw away all this junk food in the big dumpster. ugh.” ashley rolled her eyes; with her mother there was always a new guy and always a new fad or trend, some new presumption or mold that she was supposed to pretend to fit into.
bren crinkled her nose. “ew. another one? maybe we should all just give up on men and live celibate lives.”
