Hello from the Blue Church in Bratislava, Slovakia! Also known as the Church of St. Elizabeth, this church was built during 1908-1913 in the Hungarian Art Nouveau style. It features light blue mosaics, majolicas (tin glazed pottery) and a blue-glazed roof. My couchsurfing host was giving me a tour of town and he briefly mentioned “Yeah, and this is where all the tourists go.” You know when locals overlook their regions’ iconic landmarks because they live there and see it everyday? Kinda of that feeling. I do it too. Like how it’s a stereotype that Californians go to the beach everyday? Umm no ma’m, that’s the Pacific Ocean and that’s cold water and I need to work. I typically don’t like to be in touristy areas or do the typical tourist thing, but this church was actually surprisingly impressive. It may not be the biggest church I’ve seen on my travels, but the light blue paint color makes it unique and beautiful to look at. Upon closer look, I appreciated the craftsmanship that went into the fine detailing. Someone had to sit there and lay thousands of mosaic pieces 🙀 Oftentimes we overlook landmarks in our hometown. Are there icons you see on a regular basis, but is impressive to someone just visiting the area? #chasingcrystal #bratislava🇸🇰 #bratislava_ #bratislavacity #bratislavaslovakia #bluechurch #bluechurchbratislava #asianwomen #asianamericans #solofemaletraveler #motogirl #motodistancing #slovakiatravel #slovakia🇸🇰 (at Blue Church, Bratislava) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkgsNgVrFmB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
