Formal Funk Sasha Bratz doll 2004
This might be one of my top 3 favourite dolls I own. Like Tokyo Tianna I never thought I would see myself having her in my collection due to the fact she is nearly impossible to find complete.
however I happened to find her online one day and the seller had listed her as very cheap. All she came with was her skirt and the shoes, so I took the chance and got her and figured that I would try to replace her missing bodice, gloves and Shawl.
To my luck there was a marketplace listing that same week from someone selling a mini bratz formal funk doll which happened to have the same fabric as formal funk Sasha’s dress. I purchased it without question and started planning how I would turn this tiny piece of clothing into another.
When I received the mini doll I was shocked by how tiny the item actually was and began to re consider my approach as there was barely any fabric to use. I decided to unpick the skirt so I could utilise every millimetre of fabric available, I had also prepared a pattern for a bodice which utilised the skirt pieces to the best of my ability. Eventually fitting all pieces in and even using the skirt lining to line the inside of the bodice.
The gloves and shawl were also rather easily found, as I chanced upon the mesh at an op shop I was in and found a great colour match organza at the fabric store. I’m genuinely so pleased with how it all came together and I kind of like her even more with her custom bodice, I feel like she has the simplest outfit in the range and the style I crafted was a true re-imagining of the original.
Midnight Dance Yasmin Bratz Doll 2005
I purchased this doll from eBay with almost all her pieces, she was missing one of her shoes and her matching cape. I’m still searching for at least her missing shoe, but for now I’m really happy with the Ooh La La fur stole which is a great colour match to this doll.
This was a really great restoration because this Yasmin doll I feel is often overlooked within the Midnight Dance line because the series is very strong, but I have kinda completely fallen for this doll in the lineup and am claiming her as my favourite in the series. Her evanescence colours, and midnight blue black hair is really gorgeous. Her hair ribbons are my favourite part about her design, and if I get the other two dolls, I would definitely try and incorporate them into their hair as well because I think it could definitely been carried through each design.
I always catch myself glancing this doll in my cabinet and i have to stop and appreciate her for a moment each time, she has grown rapidly as one of my favourite dolls I own.
