       Weight shifting uncomfortably from one foot to another, Petunia scowled down at her shoes, all too aware of the eyes of everyone else on the platform resting on her just as long as they thought they could get away with. She was too old to be here, clearly not one of those younger siblings waiting for their elders to return home on the train as they already spun delightful stories of what their own time at that school would be like. No, she stuck out here and Petunia KNEW that they looked at her and pitied her; pitied her because she wasn’t one of those on the train they were waiting for, coming back from a year at a school of MAGIC. 

           Petunia was ordinary, and they pitied her for it and she hated them.

    She hadn’t even wanted to come to King’s Cross; she’d tried to convince her mum that they should go shopping and let Da pick Lily up from the station, but she’d been firmly told that good sisters waited for their sisters. ( That hadn’t ever kept Lily from waiting for her. ) Thus Petunia had been forced to come, and was now standing back from the edge of the platform, Platform 9 and three quarters (really, how stupid was that?),  waiting for her sister’s magic train to arrive.
