My final verdict on Heartstopper: See, Hollywood, THIS is the kind of representation I've been waiting for: A romance that HAPPENS to be queer, not a QUEER love romance. A gay romance that is first and foremost, a ROMANCE, not another "woe-is-me, I'm-gay" movie that tells me again and again that people like me can't live happily ever after. Heartstopper is undeniably gay, but it is certainly not like most queer movies/tv shows I've seen so far. Keep it up, Netflix and take note, Hollywood!
