Okay, I was planning to incorporate this into a larger post but:
Okay, so at the conclusion of the latest Gundam GQuuuuuux episode, Challia Bull mentions that they’re going to be supplied with a Kikeroga.
Now, the original MSN-1 Kikeroga was essentially a unit between the Psycommu Zaku and the Zeong - it’s sometimes likened to a prototype Zeong. It was slated to be used by Char…….. until the original series of Mobile Suit Gundam was cut down to 43 episodes, leading to the Kikeroga being cut.
It mounted two wired hands, in each of which were mounted a five-barrel mega-particle gun (they’re pretty much identical to the ones found on the Zeong) and two mega particle guns, situated on the shoulders.
I kinda like the regular Kikeroga - it’s essentially just a mash-up of the Zeong and Gelgoog to me. The shoulder thrusters feel like a call-forward to those of the Regelgu and the large feet help emphasise its weight - both as a unit and as a threat. Plus, they’d likely make for some cool poses for the space-use unit. Unfortunately it just looks like a big Gelgoog to me - it essentially having the Zeong’s entire abdomen and arms doesn’t really do it any favours.
In essence, the Kikeroga is one of those designs I’m kinda tepid on, but don’t dislike - the sort of thing that could be wonderful with a new interpretation.
And then I find out that it’s just what G-Quuuuuux calls the Braw Bro.
Like what the hell G-Quuuuuux!? You can’t just tease me with a fresh spin on a nonexistent unit, only to pull the curtain back and reveal the goddamn Braw Bro!
Though admittedly the Lt. Simus mentioned is Simus Al Bakharov, who piloted the Braw Bro in the original series.
*sigh* still though…..
