The Brazen beasts by Yvonne Gilbert
Behind the drum marched Brazen Beasts four abreast. Some carried cudgels, others staves; all wore pleated skirts, leathern sandals, and patchwork cloaks sewn from squares of many colors to echo the many-colored bricks of Meereen. Their masks gleamed in the sun: boars and bulls, hawks and herons, lions and tigers and bears, fork-tongued serpents and hideous basilisks.

The sun of the sun's luck has run out.
A scene from A Dance with Dragons, specifically the Dragontamer chapter, where Quentyn Martell faces his unfortunate fate. Hopefully I got all the details of the chapter right, I really enjoyed the series, but am hesitant about drawing more about it, as I'm not exactly the artist to convey serious, dramatic tones. For credit: the design of Meereen's Great Pyramid is from Martina Pilcerova's depiction of it.
