After contacting my local cafe, I discovered that sadly the hot chocolate powder they use contains milk solids. I spoke to the manager,asking if they would consider using a chocolate powder that is vegan friendly. She said she would look into it, and that she had been thinking about switching to something more nutritious, possibly a raw cacao. Just over a week later i checked in and was presented with a hot chocolate made with Loving Earth single origin organic drinking chocolate. It has that raw cacao flavour that I have come to love, and I am so happy to be getting my vegan hot chocolate every morning. They've now added it to the ordering system, it's here to stay.
