Before I start, I saw someone mention "No Plot Thursday" in the comments Is this an official thing? Are Thursdays really when the random recipes and unrelated video show? I didn't know that. Hmm... Well, no plot or yes plot, I'm still watching each episode.
Come to think of it... This episode is not completely random. The "ice cream" intro made me giggle so much that I couldn't comprehend who she was talking about: herself or Ed? I had to watch it twice (perhaps thrice?). Was she talking about Sanditon? I doubt it because of two things: my fangirl senses and her pause-and-smile when she was talking about "the right touch to reveal its full potential".
I may be thinking way ahead here. And I'm sorry for that. But wouldn't it be sooo crazy for Ed to fall in love with Clara, a girl who owns an ice cream shop his boss wants to change? He'd have to have guts to face and reject either one and somehow, in the beginning of the series, Ed is shown to be a laid-back guy who, at the sight of trouble, will try to steer clear away from it. He doesn't seem to be the kind who will fight. But then again, I remember that episode when Clara was throwing cones at him. He was pretty steadfast then. I mean, he really didn't budge. I wonder how his character will develop 'cause I think he'll be in the middle of the chaos when things get insane in Sanditon.
Going back to the episode... I think this is just a hint of things to come. The breakfast starts sweet but anything can happen by lunch. But Clara's right. Things do look different during a different part of day. In the early morning, while people still sleep, everything's peaceful and you see the world as it is; stripped off any messy ordeals or unwanted action. Perhaps, the same can be said about life or about stories. At first, it starts sweet, nice and sunny. Then, trouble arises and people start to talk and though that's when people get to communicate with each other, that's also when conflicts happen. The noise. The animosity. Perhaps before, Clara and Ed and the rest of Sanditon were okay. Then, various minds were waking up to varied ideas that sometimes conflict with one another. Now, Clara realizes that sometimes it's good to go back to basics. To wake up to another day and just have something sweet to start it all again.
*extra detail. When she says the hot doughnut and the cold ice cream are delicious together, I smiled a little 'cause it reminded me of Darcy and Lizzie. Honestly, I only noticed it after the third time I watched the ep. I wonder if Clara and Ed are like breakfast sundaes too. Hmm...
