We are young. I am learning to accept that. I am learning to accept that right now we are going to be strangers with memories, strangers who loved each other. I will always love you, of that I am absolutely sure of, but everyone is right. I can’t keep holding on to you. I can’t keep hoping and praying every day that you’ll come back to me, when we both know that we have some working on ourselves to do. We have life to live and right now the universe is telling us to do these things apart. I wish it didn’t have to be this way. I really truly wish this had never happened. But I’m going to work on letting you go now. It might take a long time, and I might have slip ups where I go searching for what you’re doing on social media or asking our friends about how you’re doing, but I promise I’m going to try.

But I hope you know that my love for you will always be here. Idk if this will fade with time, but it’s always been you that I see in my future. You are the one I see myself dancing around the kitchen with at midnight to Tip of my Tongue by Kenny Chesney. You are the one I see myself raising kids with, and waking up next to on a cold autumn morning. You are the one I see myself doing life with, every imperfect little piece. I know it’d be hard. But god, I still choose you. I still see you. I hope one day you see me again, too.
