Irony is a horseless launch of a horseracing carnival but do you reckon the frockedup and slicksuited VIPs milling on QT's rooftop tonight give a toss about irony? The BMW Caulfield Cup carnival's kick off party was a sparkler fueled by samplers from EZARD restaurant (popping up in the Heath Enclosure), the David Jones Fashion Stable (headed by the lovely Nadia Bartel), Moët & Chandon (rivers of the stuff and a planned vintage gold horse carousel at the track), Tommy Collins catering, the E.P & L.P Deck (with "cocktail flame throwers" - what? - and DJ Grant Smillie heading trackside) and the Westfield Style Stakes photography studios. Now, if the millennials - bless their Thurleys Mimcos and crownlets - can just pop some knickers on under their froclets, keep their dignity and shoes on past 4pm, and hold their liquor with a modicum of youthful dignity, it should be a memorably noice string of racedays, starting Saturday. #itsjustnotracing #breakwithconvention #bmw #BMWCaulfieldCup #catanachstakes #CaulfielGuinaes #springracingcarnival #davidjones #melbourneracingclub (at Rooftop at QT)
