Queen cell being placed into a mating nuc
Removing Queen Bee Cells from Cell Bars (by stickytires2)The cells bars are removed from a cell builder colony 24 hrs before the queens hatch. The video shows the beekeeper removing the cell cup & queen cell and placing them on a towel covering a hot water bottle inside a cooler. The cooler will then be carried over to the queen yard where each cell will receive their own nuc
Inspecting the Breeder Colony
Breeding great queens begins with a excellent breeding stock. A breeder queen is selected based on her laying pattern;strength(numbers) and personality of the hive; the colonies' resistance to pest and disease; and honey production.
Brood frame is inspected to check the queen's laying pattern, number, and quality of eggs.
