XD I’m sorry Breir! Portia has a nasty sense of humor.
🍎🍎🍎 ((throws apples right back at Marqos >D ))
“To start: At the risk of being dreadfully obvious, I am an agent of the Dominion, so assassination is a routine day at the office for me. And really, in the figurative accounting for one’s life, once murder is checked off of the list all of the other sins do seem rather trivial.”
“Second: Regardless of my physical state when I was rescued from captivity I should have tried harder to subdue or to... eliminate my traitorous brother. The ugly truth is that only part of me regrets that I wavered. I replay the scene again and again and wonder what would have happened had the imminent threat of reinforcements arriving not intervened.”
“And finally: When I am working in the office I sometimes sneak the last of the coffee without making a new pot.”
Marqos picked up one of the apples and gave it a buff with his sleeve, then calmly took a bite from it and laid it back upon the table, his smile pleasant as he chewed.
Questions right back atcha! How did Marquos and Kajek last part ways? Was Marqos grateful? How did Marqos and Serafina become friends? Do they have any inside jokes?
WEEELLLLP. I’m still working on that last chapter of the story of how Marqos and Kajek parted ways after Kajek and Lishae rescued Marqos. *hides in shame penalty box* My on dash timeline is a lil bit skewed because of it. In a nutshell, Marqos didn’t kill him! There was a violent confrontation but the situation wasn’t conducive to a drawn out fight. They had to scatter, pretty much. Deep down (waaayyy deep down) Marqos was glad to see his brother alive. His mind quickly shifted the focus of his gratitude to Lishae though, because he has a STRONG suspicion that Kajek was somehow involved in him being compromised whether intentionally or by accident. *dramatic pause* Let’s see what happens!
I’m still fleshing out Serafina’s background, but she and Marqos met a few years back at a recital where she was performing. She’s a cellist of some repute for her passionate playing and her avant-garde interpretations of classics. They were lovers who had enough in common that they became friends. One of their inside jokes is calling each other “Ball” and “Chain”, because they had a very loose pact that if neither of them were married by the time they were 30 and there were no prospects that they’d tie the knot strictly for appearance’s sake to appease their families. And then maintain autonomous lives in an open marriage, lol. With the changes and chaos in Marqos’ life he hasn’t seen her recently. And yes, she does suspect he has fallen for the “Platinum-haired beauty from the party” and has teased him about it in the texts/emails they’ve exchanged. :P

Marqos absently reached for the glass and made a quiet tutting sound when his hand bumped someone else’s. Turning to see another guest already laying claim to the prize on the butler’s tray, he realized his mistake and inclined his head in that not-quite deferential but still polite sort of way that seemed hard-wired into highborns. Though they had not been formally introduced, the man’s face was familiar.
“Apologies,” he said, gesturing toward the tray that held the one remaining glass of the special vintage the hosts had uncorked for the occasion. “Shall we duel for it? It is exceedingly good wine.” A smile quirked the corners of his lips.
“Swords at dawn it is, then,” the man replied with all due dramatic inflection. Marqos chuckled.
“A thousand pardons, gentlemen, but it is I who must apologize,” the butler piped in. “You see, this glass is destined for the Lady of the house.” Looking far too amused for his station, the butler sketched a small bow and continued on his way leaving both men stranded and wine-less.
15. Something that grosses your OC out?
“Have you ever fucked a Mordesh?”
Marqos nearly dropped the dart he was aiming. He cut a reproachful glare toward his sister.
“Really Portia! You cannot be serious,” he replied scornfully. His sister chuckled, swirling the wine in her glass and giving a coy shrug of her shoulder.
“I am, and I would not be surprised in the least if you have so spill the seditious details. Promise I will not report you. If you must know I was considering a fling with a mechanic and I wanted some insight.” Marqos just stared at her for a long, long moment.
“There are so many things wrong with that I do not even know where to start! For one...” Marqos suddenly trailed off, all of the points he wished to make scrambling in his mind. Just the thought of sex with one of them was enough to send a shudder of repulsion through him. And that was enough to set his sister to laughing again.
“For one,” she ventured curiously, “they are zombies? Large zombies with putrid insides?” Marqos rolled his eyes, but was trying very hard not to mentally go there and imagine it in horrifying detail.
“Don’t be ridiculous! Of course they are not zombies. I know this. Everyone knows this. Tsst. Are we playing darts here or not?” And then it hit him. She was doing this on purpose to put him off of his game. With great concentration he aimed the dart once more. “Have I mentioned how much I hate you, sister?”
Portia grinned at the lighthearted dig, obviously glad that her ruse was effective. “I would say I am sorry, but we both know that would be a lie.”
Once loosed, the dart Marqos threw hit embarrassingly far off center. Portia sketched a check mark in the air. Marqos raised his middle finger and saluted her, more determined than ever to win this game now.
OOC: Marqos can’t even with Mordesh. Intellectually he knows they aren’t zombies, but something in his psyche won’t let go of the association of them consisting of putrid, decaying flesh. His recent experiences when he was being held captive certainly didn’t help but the squick was there long before then. If he was on tumblr he would want a trigger warning on anything referring to Mordesh having sex. XD On the whole, he feels a certain amount of vague sympathy for them, akin to what a Roman might have felt for a Greek (and vice versa). For such a great culture to be so decimated is troubling to him on a few levels. If it can happen to them, it could happen to anyone.
