“I certainly did not faint, Lishae. I simply felt like reclining. Quickly.”
4: Would your OC want to involve themselves in humanitarian work ? If yes, then for what? If not, then why not?
OOC: All the Ventarion siblings did the prerequisite volunteer work for the Vigilant Church when they were younger. The oldest brother Julian is the only one who still actively does offer his time (with his wife and kids), and especially if it happens to somehow promote the family’s mining biz interests.
Marqos would argue that serving the Dominion in any capacity IS humanitarian work. If you put a finer point on the definition, he would claim he has no time for such things and while that is kind of true, he’s just really selfish with his free time and would much rather attend a fundraising gala and write a check than roll up his sleeves. He’s pretty ambivalent about those outside of his immediate family and social circle. Other people just do not hit his radar, especially those who aren’t highborn.
Like Marqos, Portia is pretty self-involved and driven by societal norms as well, but she still does occasionally volunteer for church projects, usually in her capacity as a student of architectural engineering. It’s more parental-induced guilt that motivates her to initiate it but once she’s underway with a project she enjoys the opportunity to learn. If she happens to help people in the process, then that’s icing on the society cake.
On the other side of the war, there’s Kajek the filthy traitor. He’s a genuinely kind and helpful guy, but he tries to keep a low profile for the most part. There’s an epitaph on a tomb in New Orleans that describes Kajek’s preferred modus operandi: He committed acts of charity as stealthily as some men commit crimes. He has a ship and his favorite way to help others is to move supplies to those in need or offer transport for those in bad situations. He’s the type to leave crates of supplies in the dead of night on someone’s doorstep.
3 and 11 now! :D
3. How many pillows does your OC sleep with?
A quizzical expression twisted Marqos’ lips back into a smirk. “What an odd question. I sleep with one. Are there really people who hoard pillows in their sleep?” The visuals of such a scenario made him chuckle. “I have my pillows custom made, three at a time. One for me, one to have in case mine is somehow ruined, and the last one because a bed with only one pillow just looks strange.”
11. Is your OC a blanket hog?
“Quite the opposite, actually. I prefer the lightest of covers when I sleep, usually just a sheet. My nanite-enhanced physiology tends to make me run a little warmer than most, and I seem to notice it most at night.“
“Unless we are speaking of a certain special blanket that is not truly a blanket at all but a nostalgic souvenir from my childhood.” He paused, lifting his chin a smidge and leveling an amused and challenging gaze at her. ”Which is now safely locked away from further molestation by the likes of you.”
15. Something that grosses your OC out?
“Have you ever fucked a Mordesh?”
Marqos nearly dropped the dart he was aiming. He cut a reproachful glare toward his sister.
“Really Portia! You cannot be serious,” he replied scornfully. His sister chuckled, swirling the wine in her glass and giving a coy shrug of her shoulder.
“I am, and I would not be surprised in the least if you have so spill the seditious details. Promise I will not report you. If you must know I was considering a fling with a mechanic and I wanted some insight.” Marqos just stared at her for a long, long moment.
“There are so many things wrong with that I do not even know where to start! For one...” Marqos suddenly trailed off, all of the points he wished to make scrambling in his mind. Just the thought of sex with one of them was enough to send a shudder of repulsion through him. And that was enough to set his sister to laughing again.
“For one,” she ventured curiously, “they are zombies? Large zombies with putrid insides?” Marqos rolled his eyes, but was trying very hard not to mentally go there and imagine it in horrifying detail.
“Don’t be ridiculous! Of course they are not zombies. I know this. Everyone knows this. Tsst. Are we playing darts here or not?” And then it hit him. She was doing this on purpose to put him off of his game. With great concentration he aimed the dart once more. “Have I mentioned how much I hate you, sister?”
Portia grinned at the lighthearted dig, obviously glad that her ruse was effective. “I would say I am sorry, but we both know that would be a lie.”
Once loosed, the dart Marqos threw hit embarrassingly far off center. Portia sketched a check mark in the air. Marqos raised his middle finger and saluted her, more determined than ever to win this game now.
OOC: Marqos can’t even with Mordesh. Intellectually he knows they aren’t zombies, but something in his psyche won’t let go of the association of them consisting of putrid, decaying flesh. His recent experiences when he was being held captive certainly didn’t help but the squick was there long before then. If he was on tumblr he would want a trigger warning on anything referring to Mordesh having sex. XD On the whole, he feels a certain amount of vague sympathy for them, akin to what a Roman might have felt for a Greek (and vice versa). For such a great culture to be so decimated is troubling to him on a few levels. If it can happen to them, it could happen to anyone.
dirtylaundry [21:04pm]: You are serious aren't you?
pumeress [21:04pm] I am. I won the wager, did I not?
dirtylaundry [21:05pm]: Yes you did. Alright. To the victor go the sexy spoils..
dirtylaundry [21:06pm]: Just a moment. Moving so you will not miss a thing due to poor lighting.
I was going to go for something different, but I’m just going to accept that Wildstar Marqos also has Bertie Carvel’s Imperial Agent voice because dat voice.
