your newest edit is super beautiful ! if i want to read more about the story it's based on, where's the best source/retelling to go to?

oh dear, my source was my incredibly traditional grandma who basically made the story into a lesson of ‘no sex before marriage and even then only for childbirth’ and ‘poets are always sad.’ i think this may be the version closest to the “”original” and i looked for a version with the mutual bleeding and heart stabbing that i was told and i lowkey can’t find it?? so i think my grandma may have just made that up lmao
