So I've been obsessed with this song by Brenda Fassi, an Afropop singer, and decided that her voice was so full of emotion that I could guess (generally) what she was singing, regardless of the language. So I thought about it and decided that it seemed “wistful” yet “promising of hope to others,” and, like many good vocalists, giving us the feeling that she’s speaking earnestly to us.
I looked up the translation, and it’s basically just this mother getting really psyched about her son's wedding and talking shit to everyone who said her son would never get married (but honestly, she didn't either).
