Blueberry Wine? Wine not?
I was at the homebrew store (Brew Camp in Chicago!) and saw a little gallon jug. "HOW CUTE" I thought. "I CAN FERMENT SOMETHING IN THERE I AM SURE" (I think in caps lock). And so I got 3 quarts of blueberry juice and poured them into the sanitized jug. My jalapeno beer (see below) just happened to be at high krausen, so I just took a little krausen off the top and plopped it into the jug. It took three days to start, but we are now fermenting happily! I'm going to re-rack this off the yeast a few times to clarify it, but then just bottle it up (with a bit of priming sugar) to make a nice fruity summery sparkling wine!
Review May 26, 2014: Holy crumbs this was a success! Fresh and fruity with tobacco notes coming through in the body with a perfectly tart finish. I am now resolute to always have some fruit juice in this jug bubbling away - the small batches make it that much more precious!
