Zakuani sent this text to Brian Mullan before Mullan's first game back to MLS play. Mullan had been serving a 10 game suspension from the MLS for shattering  Zakuani's Tibia and Fibula in a horrendous tackle 2 months earlier.

This is powerful stuff right here. When Zakuani sent the message he had no feeling below the knee in his right leg. He was starting to mull over the possibility that his career as a footballer was coming to an end. For him to be able to forgive the man who possibly ended his career because he lost his cool is very powerful stuff. Zakuani is a real dude. I hope like heck he can get his career back on track and get out on the X Box pitch by mid season.

Houston Dynamo losing strikers

The defending champions Houston Dynamo are losing strikers left and right.  Paul Daglish was released at the end of last year.  Nate Jaqua is supposedly looking for a job in Austria and it was just announced that Joseph Ngwenya is on his way to Austria. Ngwenya has just signed a deal with SK Austria and keeps him there until the end of the current Austrian season with an option to add another full season.  SK Austria is currently at the bottom of the top Austrian league approximately half way through their season. Assuming Jaqua goes as well, this leaves the Dynamo with Brian Ching as the only real proven striker on the roster.  As of right now Corey Ashe, Dwayne De Rosario, Brian Mullan, and Erik Ustruck are the only players on the roster listed as forwards or M-F.  De Rosario and Mullan are more suited to play in the middle.  I don't know much about Ashe or Ustruck.  Dynamo fans - you want to depend on Ashe or Ustruck to partner with Ching this year, or do you move De Rosario and Mullan share time moving forward to partner with Ching?

Major League Soccer came down firmly on Colorado Rapids midfielder Brian Mullan on Thursday, issuing an additional nine-game suspension for the rash tackle last week that broke the right leg of Seattle Sounders midfielder Steve Zakuani.

The league’s Disciplinary Committee made the announcement following days of deliberation and review on the incident, which left Zakuani in a Denver hospital and the veteran Mullan absent from workouts and, according to Rapids head coach Gary Smith, “visibly shaken.”

Mullan faces an automatic one-game suspension for the red card he received following the tackle, bringing the total games missed to 10. It is the largest suspension handed down for an on-the-ball tackle in league history.

He also faces a $5,000 fine, as well as a $250 fine for receiving a red card.

"The Committee felt the egregious nature of the foul and the severity of the injury warranted the discipline issued," executive vice president of competition and game operations Nelson Rodriguez said in a statement. "The Committee believes the challenge showed an utter disregard for Zakuani's safety.

"In making this decision, the Committee took several factors into account: the timing of the challenge, the location on the field, the moments immediately before the challenge where it is clear that Mullan is frustrated and the severity of Zakuani's injury."

Per the CBA, all players serve suspension with pay. Mullan is eligible to return to MLS play on June 26, but is expected to appeal the ruling.
