Animation for Weezer’s Take On Me cover video by jocelyn&jocelyn(Brian Smee and myself).

@briansmee and I developed an interesting photoshop roto technique using some of kyle’s brushes and a lot of trial and error. The animation was completed in about 2 weeks. 

We also cel animated a bunch of fun transitions to bring you in and out of animated sequences. The X one above was animated by Brian!

I shot a bunch of real paper cycles under a down shooter to lay under the photoshop animation in afterfx, to give it a unique, kind of imperfect look.

(1/2) I made a comic book! It's a dedication to Prince. His music plays in my head constantly and he's an artist whom I think of daily and incorporate into my life whenever possible. This comic also ties in to my new movie Big Surf. When I was making it, Prince was always on but when he passed away I couldn't really listen to anything else. Whenever I look at the movie now I still associate different parts to different albums of his that I was hyped on the most. Towards the end it was mostly the Batman soundtrack and one nite alone, but at the start Parade was the big one so Mountains is what I pair with the start of big surf.
