Hello sorry if this is too personal but "as a stabbing survivor"? Would love that story if you're comfortable sharing
OF COURSE THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES
HOW I GOT STABBED ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO
On Pine and 3rd in Seattle, WA there is a McD's with a pedestrian window (or was? Heard it got shut down, hm. Wonder Why.). Now Pine and 3rd isn't like...the nicest place in town, in fact I would recommend avoiding eye contact with folks in this area just in general. This McD's is nicknamed McStabbie's by employees.
I worked at McD's, not that one, about 10 years ago. I was about to have my shift cut when I was given the opportunity to pick up hours at a different location, my GM would drive me there and I could finish the last 2 hours of my shift to make rent.
The GM tells me the location, and the whole of the cook line immediately goes-
"MCSTABBIES?? Don't go there! Don't take the shift! People get stabbed there all the time! That's why we call it MCSTABBIE'S!!!" 18 year old me shrugs, it's 2 Hours of a shift, What Are The Odds?
30 minutes anon. It took 30 minutes.
I come in, they introduce me to the manager and the security guard who stands outside the establishment, and set me up on the order side of the pedestrian window. It's a decent line we'd had a good 30 minute rush when it happens. A man, clearly tweaking, orders a 4 piece nugget and pays. This kind of thing is common enough that it doesn't bother me, dude is out of it but polite. I let him know he can pick them up at the window on the other side of the sidewalk, he paid, he is free to chow down on them nugs!! He was not having it insisting that I give him the nugs. I could not in fact give him his nugs.
I was not close to the cook line or delivery belt, told him as much and let him know that he could grab his food if he walked like 20 feet. The security guard does not budge upon hearing what is becoming a Loud Conversation.
Anon this is where I fucked up, I was so caught up in trying to get him to move I wasn't actually paying attention to Him. He leans into the window space just enough, a pen seemingly in hand, and swings wide. In trying to make sure my face wasn't hit by said pen, I only moved my upper body back. By, retrospective, sheer dumb luck he managed to hit my thigh.
Also Hm. This was not a pen. I have been stabbed with pens. They don't hurt like this. I look down and realize OH It Was a Small Knife. Hm. Troubling.
I didn't register what had happened at first, and then I dropped. I don't remember screaming, but I remember Hearing it. The other cashier manages to run over quick enough to Stop Me from pulling out the knife (that shit is instinctive when you can't think!!) and someone calls 911. Tweaker dude does not take his knife with him, the security guy does not catch him as he runs, I'm very quickly taken to the hospital, where I'm given 6-7 stiches, a tetanus shot, and give a statement to the cops.
L&I pays for it all, I beg the hospital to not call my mom or she'd make me move home, and come back to work a few days later with pain meds and an extra break per shift.
Was I being dramatic when I said that I am a stabbing survivor? Absolutely! Did he also almost hit a bunch of major arteries that would have probably killed me if he hadn't missed? Also Yes.
Anyways the scar's nearly gone and I am McStabbies in a few group chats now ajdjska
BRIAR LORE (roughly)what's in red are things I'm unsure of keeping:
Briar came from a group of nomads (who were mostly witches/outcasts) but got separated from them and made her way to Vesuvia.
Her parents names are Domani (they/them) and Wynn (she/her). They found her as a baby and taught her many things such as magic/witchcraft.
After some time Briar met Asra and Muriel. They first bonded through magic and tried to teach asra what she knows and visa versa.
With her knowledge of magic and such, she opened a magic shop as a way to get by and sometimes would sell art but eventually she found her way into the palace as a gardener (she was horribly busy). She always tried to keep her abilities as a secret as a way of protecting herself.
During her time at the palace, she Had gone into the Colosseum. She would try freeing/aiding some of the gladiators, but after her attempt to free Muriel she had to stop because it got way too dangerous.
She kept working in the palace gardens, and once the plague began she helped in any way she could to try and find a cure or help ease those who were infected.
Briar died of the plague,(specifically in the palace gardens, she had no one since Asra left. the garden was her sanctuary of sorts.)
Briar was revived by Asra, and of course she doesnt remember anything (all aboard the angst train!)
Luckily she has her own writings/drawings to go off of and try to relearn things she used to know, and the help of Asra too!
