HART OF DIXIE | 2.19・"This Kiss"
One Set Per Episode of Hart of Dixie: [9/76] 1.09 - “The Pirate & The Practice”
Hart of Dixie Rewatch ⤷ 1x15 “Snowflakes & Soulmates”
I can't see pretty. I can only see doom. It only snows in Bluebell every once in a while and when it does, bad things happen.
Some thoughs on Hart of Dixie
Thanks to some gifsets on my dash over the last couple of years and currently again, I recently started watching Hart of Dixie, not knowing what it was about. I had an idea it was about a city girl coming to a small town for whatever reason. Apparently, I wasn't so far off there 😉😊
So Dr. Zoe Hart going/escaping to small town Bluebell, Alabama (those accents, holy moly lol) because she didn't have luck in NYC and because she kept getting postcards from an old man - SPOILER ALERT? In the tags 😉 - inviting her there. Alright.
About the show itself: They really don't make them like that anymore, do they? 22 episodes per season (which is easier when you already know it and want to rewatch 😅). I've only watched season 1, started with season 2 (that cliffhanger!), but I think it's kinda sweet. Some characters are interesting, friendships mostly nice. The romantic relationships - well, let's get to that later...
However, do I think it's one of the best tv series I've ever watched? Nah. I think it's quite corny 🙈😅 In fact, I'm glad I have a 4 episode rule - ever since The 100; that show got a really different vibe - because I'm not sure I'd have watched more than the pilot otherwise, tbh. Although I did start to enjoy it more, after half of the season I started to skip. Those small town problems aren't always for me.
(And after watching The Pitt not too long ago, it doesn't help seeing Zoe Hart practice as a doctor (GP) 😅 Obviously, these shows are totally different and an ER and a General Practice are not the same, but still...)
Hart of Dixie also reminds me so much of Sweet Magnolias, which is also a bit corny, but I find more characters interesting there than I do in Hart of Dixie, I think. There isn't such a focus on one main character, too, which I like.
Plus, maybe it's because I'm generally more into crime (procedurals; detectives), mystery and magic/supernatural shows that I just find some of the problems the characters have in HoD so - how do I put this - boring (?), but at the same time somehow exaggerated? I found myself thinking a few times: Why? Especially in the first few episodes. Why on earth can e. g. someone have such a problem with a doctor from NYC (they had reasons I guess, but I found those reasons stupid lol)! 🙃😅
This is about Brick and Lemon Breeland (father and daughter). Perhaps I should write more about the main character Zoe (I do like her so far, well mostly - except when it comes to her romantic life, like GIRL...sometimes I wanna grab and shake her, but she is also somewhat relatable to me). However, I feel like I wanna share my thoughts on Lemon just as much. I was sure that she would evolve and she did and does, but the way she behaved at the beginning? I can't stand characters like that. I knew Brick would also come around, but same with him. Then the Belles (Lemon is basically the "head" of them, for lack of better word), they are quite something, too - oh boy...a bit uptight. They started to talk about certain topics more openly though, especially romance/relationships, towards the end of season 1 though (after some incidents) - thank goodness.
Anyway, halfway through the season I couldn't help myself and started to look up Zoe and Wade on Youtube. Found "The Story of Zoe and Wade" - watched it (over an hour long!) and for a second wasn't sure I'd keep watching, tbh. Did not expect this relationship to be such a kind of messy on and off thing (at least it seems like it, they argue A LOT 🙈😅).
I'm aware that this video was, like I mentioned, an hour long and covers a lot of their story from 4 seasons (76 episodes). It's probably less intense when you already know what's gonna happen. But these two are, with Lavon, by far the most interesting characters to me. I thought if their story is compelling enough to me, I'd keep watching the show.
I'm glad I did, at least so far, the beginning of season 2 (because, again, that cliffhanger!). Not so sure how it will go on now because I need a little time to breathe lol
Zoe currently likes two guys, therefore stayed single - good for her!
Said guys, Wade and George: some thoughts, it won't be much.
George - if you don't know this show, consider starting to watch it, too, but don't want to know what happens, don't read this next paragraph - wanting to be with Zoe RIGHT AFTER he broke off the wedding with Lemon - after a 15 year relationship. DUDE! I was kinda proud of Zoe for telling him off. He really "needs to heal" and enjoy single life for a bit.
And Wade, oh man. (Male) Characters who have a sort of "I don't care"/"bad boy" attitude and sleep with a lot of girls/people at first, but you just KNOW that they will change and actually fall in love? I can't help but love them. But it's a long way there and he's still kind of annoying (yeah, the initial annoyance and 🙄 comes with it, unfortunately).
Another relationship I find intriguing? Lemon and Lavon. Let's see where this goes (I only know Zoe and Wade are endgame, don't know about the others, but I do have a certain feeling about these two...).

Hart of Dixie Season 4 Episode 8 - '61 candles'
If I had a nickel for every time Tim Matheson played a father/father figure on a show where a city girl with a background in the medical field moves to a small town to get away from her life, I’d have two nickels.
