I feel like bridal has been following my every footstep… from NYC to Long Beach, and then in a random Goodwill Outlet store. Sitting lofty over a pile of dingy clothes was the most beautiful ivory cloud of a gown. I look inside the label and find WHITE by the renaissance of a woman, Vera Wang.
In my own life, I never felt so connected to a designer’s story until recently. She endured her own challenges and I have a huge amount of respect for her journey. Her powerful resilience radiates from her speech, and it's a strong reminder to me that you can overcome anything to do what you love. For the past rollercoaster of a year, I have learned that the bridal industry brings me unexplainable joy. It lights up my inner child inside, and then I see my small self standing in front of the tv screen, now imagine the posh and glamorous Jennifer Lopez, running to find her man in Wedding Planner. Who doesn’t love love?
It’s like when we went to a vegan burger restaurant and the owner was busy in the kitchen with his two children at the cashier. It was so endearing to watch as the two dotted down our order on the notepad. The name of the place came from the owner’s two little daughters, (if you’re ever in Seattle, try Galaxy Rue! Yum!) his inner light shone once he saw his love (vegan burgers) as an effort to save more cows, and also initiate a warm wave towards meat-eaters.
All in all, the love for bridal sinks deeper than the needle and thread, and you know our Tauruses love luxurious fabrics.
