What he’d learned was this : nothing was what it seemed. It was a cliche for a reason. People always had secrets below their surface, but what Jughead had never expected was to meet his own secret. The fact that his true nature had been hidden from him for so long -- that he was a genetic werewolf prone to outbursts that left people hurt or worse -- had been more than just a shock to his system. His world was backwards, upside down. Control hadn’t come easy, and every day it was something to struggle for.

But just because he’d had the wool removed from his eyes when it came to who he was, he hadn’t been expecting to find out about the rest of the world in the way that he did. That werewolves were virtually a norm -- and that vampires and witches and whatnot were all coexisting in whatever way they could. And now that he’d learned to master his ability to smell, he knew exactly what she was, and knew that she knew what he was. What a tangled web we weave.

“I think I have to be. Not much we can do change it, huh?” A twist to Jughead’s mouth, he raised his eyebrows with stark humour on his lips. His walls were up, sure -- his gut instinct had been wrong so many times before. “Are you?”
