I'm a firm believer that if a thing happens two years in a row, it's a tradition, so I guess after last year's Mrs Bracegirdle piece and now this, February 24th is officially "make highly specific fanart of obscure lotr musical side hobbits for the enjoyment of @mischieffoal and mischieffoal alone" 😂 And xe definitely didn't even ask for this! 😆 Excuse the movie-ism, but "Never thought I'd find myself painting Lobelia Sackville-Baggins." "What about Birdget Lappin?" "Aye, I could do that." 😍 She is an icon and a legend and I love her and this musical.

I could've spent hours and days more making this better, but I already ruined it once by overtweaking everything, so I'm choosing restraint and also I am committed to the bit of posting this today so here we are! Also hey kids, don't paint gingham. Ever. Not even once.

So idk, happy February 24th everyone, can't wait to see what I get up to next year! 😂

Ensemble 2023 LotR Musical references

I've been collecting reference images of lots of the cast and characters for my own art, so I thought I'd just share them collected here as well so others don't have to slog through the Instagram and crop images and screenshot videos etc. These are all from the Watermill Theatre Instagram/website/reviews, with most photos credited to Pamela Raith.
