I gave the first two books to a friend who actually works for the met and he said the descriptions of policing were more realistic than 95% of crime shows/books. I’ve always loved all of Peters tangents, and I’m not entirely sure how you could read all the books without lovingly peter.

The first time I had american chocolate someone had brought me some back Hershey kisses from their vacation, they were so awful I just assumed they'd gone bad, imagine how shocked I was when I went to america and all the chocolate was like that.

I used to think it was some left over Puritanical desire for punishment but turns out they really just dont know they can have nice things. It’s a little sad tbh

I feel like Guleeed would probably pretend she didn't care and call him a nerd until she got so annoyed about one of the points he was making that she revealed herself to know every single detail about the movie/show/book

Okay, you guys got me there, Guleed is totally nerdier than she lets on. (Now imagining her having once let slip her Secret Nerdy Knowledge in front of Seawoll, and when he assigns her to be the Official Folly Liaison he tells her it’s because she “thinks she knows all about dragons or whatever that shit was”, and she’s left banging her head gently against her desk and wishing she’d kept her mouth shut even if Seawoll had been saying something about Bilbo Baggins taking the ring to Mordor.)

(The fact this doesn’t even qualify as Secret Nerdy Knowledge anymore, what with LoTR having become popular culture, does not make her feel better.) 

(Seawoll may or may not have been trying to wind her up in the first place.)

Exactly! It’s that over-eagerness to please that really brings on the secondhand embarrassment, especially when he does the bloody impressions. One or maybe two is fine, but that one interview he just kept doing them, it went on too long. Just calm your shit, Tom, people already like you.

The first 3 quarters were good the last two episodes were a little bit of a let down, and actually kind of put me back on to liking Tom providing I don’t have to watch anymore interviews.

yeah exactly, it’s really the interviews that let him down a bit in my estimation these days, especially that last atrocious Graham Norton one

We’ve had bad floods a few years ago here, one of the most important thing is to get all your important documents (birth certificates, passports, deeds etc) together inside a water proof bad even if that’s just a garbage bag ready to go if you need to, is there anywhere higher ground you can park your car and safely get back from?

Thanks for the advice! My area is flat as a pancake, so no high ground, but we didn’t get flooded last time so I’m hoping my luck holds *fingers crossed.* My poor dog is all, “Why aren’t we walking” while simultaneously barking at the thunder.

My California ass does not know how to deal with this.
