The Glow n Show ponies were released in 1990 and are filled with Glow in the Dark glitter stars!

In order: Happyglow, Starglow, Dazzleglow and Brightglow. Starglow and Dazzleglow have always been my favorites, I love the cyan color used for Starglow and the pink+blue+white used for Dazzleglow.

However, they seemingly weren't intended to have these colors! I always thought it was weird Happyglow and Brightglow are both orange and when you look at the box art you can see its different:

so I made a variant with the box art as well, or at least as close to the box art as I can get- I think I made the hair a bit too teal but that is what it looks like on the box. I definitely prefer the produced versions except for Happyglow, who I think should have been pale pink.

and speaking of variants, there's actually a Dazzleglow variant with blue hearts that was produced! I'm not sure how rare this variant actually is, it pops up frequently on ebay.

ALSO ALSO the Happyglow ponies are afaik the only (or some of the only) toys that appeared in the 1992 My Little Pony Tales TV show, appearing in the episode "Up Up and Away" where they all had wings. You can tell this version more closely matches the box art. MLPT had a cast of entirely earth ponies and I thiiiink this was the only time a unicorn or pegasus was seen.

Brightglow is the only one who talks. They save the ponies in a hot air balloon but Patch is the only one who sees them.

Glow 'n' Shows!!

These glowing magical ponies are denizens of the stars. They are part of a race of celestial ponies that used to be abundant throughout the solar system, but have since dwindled to only these four. On a search for more of their kind, they wound up disturbing a few residents of Ponyland, and even closely interacted with one. Even though their search came up empty, meeting the young pony called Patch was a unanimous highlight of their journey. The encounter inspired them.

Brightglow is one of the four glow sisters, serving under the teen reign of the twin alicorn's way back in the day. Brightglow was the oldest of the sisters and helped take care of them after they were sent away to work under Starswirl's care to learn magic well enough to aid the princesses.

Brightglow was given to the young Celestia,  loving to bring a beautiful morning to Equestria with a soft song from the birds.
