Sirius scribbled on the parchment, writing words at a furious pace. He paused and frowned down at his quill as if it had done him a serious offense before sighing and sliding the parchment across the desk away from him and placing the quill down beside it. He rubbed the back of his stiff neck and blinked blearily. He had been working on a letter to Millicent Bagnold, a rising figure in the Ministry, who was renowned for her steely personality and saying exactly what she thought. Seeing as the Ministry was seeping through the walls with corruption, Millicent had seemed like their best bet for support. Sirius had enlisted Remus’ help for phrasing certain sentences.
Apparently, “Excuse me, we’d really appreciate it if you backed us up in our venture to completely and utterly annihilate Lord Voldemort and his lackies,” just wouldn’t cut it, so, Sirius had dragged Remus back to his apartment to help him write out the wordy letter. Remus had always been good at putting things far more eloquently and proper than Sirius ever could and so the night had been spent writing, rewriting, and perfecting a letter that could potentially make or break their entire operation.
"What do you think of it so far, Remus?" Sirius asked. He turned his head and realized that his friend was completely and utterly dead to the world. His head was bent at an odd angle as it hung to the side and his legs were tucked up cramped against his body. An arm hung over the side of the red winged chair and Sirius couldn’t help but snort at the peculiar sight his friend made. He almost expected him to start drooling. He looked a bit like a human pretzel.
It honestly hadn’t surprised him that Remus had fallen asleep; the man seemed to run himself into the ground almost everyday. He had a habit of taking the entire world onto his shoulders like the Greek god Atlas. Sirius wondered what it felt like to feel as if you had the entire weight of the earth resting on your shoulders. A lot of the times the other Marauders could be guilty of forgetting about Remus’ needs. He seemed so held together most of the time that it was easy to forget that he struggled a lot and Sirius knew the struggle wasn’t just with his lycanthropy.
"Hey, wake up, Moony." Sirius shook Remus’ shoulder gently. Remus startled awake and blinked at his friend in a confused daze. "You fall asleep in the weirdest positions. Honestly, if I didn’t know you I’d think that you were part cat instead of a werewolf. Come on, move to the couch at the very least." Remus stood up and groggily moved out of the study which was a testament to how exhausted he was when he didn’t even insist that he head home.
When Sirius made it into the living room Remus was already curled up on the couch, conked out with the blanket wrapped around his sleeping form. He blew out the candles in the living room and moved to his room to catch up on his sleep as well.
