HITS Ocala 2015
That's another reason I can't stand some Tumblr ppl or OTTB Connect on FB especially bc ppl on there are literally crazy and rude on purpose with any simple question. My friend asked about a solution to spurs rubbing and they ripped her a new one.
Yeah, exactly and they love to make assumptions without politely asking questions to clear up any confusion. It’s honestly so ridiculous. I saw someone getting torn apart on OTTB Connect because her horse was dirty and she didn’t have time to ride after brushing
Exactly and he's 7, so definitely not too young to do everything you'll be asking. People are acting like he's not in shape and been working. What he was doing at the track was way more strenuous than handwalking and trotting the last time I checked.
I also find it incredibly presumptuous that people assume he hasn’t had “time to be a horse” because his home barn literally had him living outside 24/7 when he wasn’t at the track which isn’t the usual but not every racing barn just locks their horses away and denies them turnout/contact with other horses. He’s very well socialized and because of how he was treated, has 0 bad stall habits/track idiosyncrasies that you see with a lot of them.
People are quick to judge any TB restarting. My gelding was so slow he didn't get a tattoo, but I wasted no time in starting him at 4 after he stopped race training. Why let them sit in a field and lose fitness if the horse has a sound mind/body?
I don’t know especially since bringing an unfit horse back into fitness is way harder on them than it would be to have them keep a moderate level of fitness. It’d be understandable if I was jumping him already or doing insanely hard work but people started to lose their shit over me hand walking him and lunging him w/t for 10 minutes? He hasn’t been “worked” for longer than 10-15 minutes other than one 30min hand walk he went on. People are weird.
New saddle yes please. Defintiely spent way too much on horse stuff lately, but I'm really proud of myself for paying this off already and buying my second biggest purchase to date on my own.
