A human army was a piece of cake in comparison. There would be no war today, but the field would be awash with blood. He’d make sure of that. “I’ll be fine. You just worry about yourself.”

The Jack drew back, confusion and hurt mingling upon his face. Then his eyes darkened, he set his jaw and lifted his chin. It took everything in him to remain calm as he asked, “Might I ask why?” 

He ran through everything that had happened between them in recent weeks. Had he done something wrong? He could not recall. Just the other day they had been laughing over drinks. They had been friends for years upon years, had fought and bled together in a war they barely won. And now this? It didn’t make any sense.

no i think there's definitely, definitely an element of that. his hair isn't curly these days but it is wavy. it's just that the grease and whatever he uses to slick it back keep it very flat. i'm thinking he probably doesn't wash his hair as often as he should, too, so it's kind of trained to go flat now. it's always sort of rigid because it doesn't get washed much. if he actually took a really thorough bath and let his hair dry naturally, it would be wavy.

The words were incredulous, thinly veiling his anger, though the hate showed clear as day upon his face. Slowly, he looked up at the betrayer from his spot in the darkness, seething. His hands itched to wrap themselves around the young king's throat, but his body ached so and his chains were not forgiving. 

"Traitor," he hissed, withdrawing as far as his cell would allow. "Get out! Get out, get out, get out!"
