Agents' Reading Material (part 1: Astra, Breach, Brim, Chamber)
Astra: big on magazines, specifically the home and lifestyle ones. She loves reading life tips, fashion suggestions, opinion pieces, new gossip on celebrities, and checking out recipes. These magazines are colourful, and always have something new and fresh for her to get into when she’s bored. Astra also enjoys magazines about the planet and humanity. So you’ll find her floating upside-down with a Nat Geo mag sometimes. Astra’s magazine list includes: Reader’s Digest, Real Simple, and Smithsonian.
Breach: though he’s a jokester and doesn’t look like he’s serious about anything, he did make his own arms. Breach is always reading up on the newest engineering articles so he can better his prosthetics. If there’s one thing he and Killjoy can meet in the middle about, it’s that! He doesn’t read that often though, so when he does, it’s usually about engineering. Breach’s engineering reading material includes: The Design of Everyday Things, Engineering and the Mind’s Eye, and Popular Mechanics. Oh, and also engineering manuals. A lot of them.
Brimstone: the news. As a self proclaimed ‘old dog’, Brim keeps up with his fair share of world events by checking the news every morning. He doesn’t have the time to get a physical newspaper, so he’s learned to use the tablet Killjoy gave him to read it. It gives him a sense of understanding about how things are going in the world, and gets his brain going in the morning, thinking about how to keep the world a safe place. The only downside to reading the news electronically is that he can’t do his daily crossword :(. He got a little book of them though :)
Chamber: biographies, autobiographies, memoirs and sheet music. A man of many interests. He enjoys reading biographies about famous figures. How their lives shaped them to be the people they are now. How their difficulties forged them into successful players in life. It motivates him. On top of that, Chamber also collects sheet music. He loves real handwritten ones. Not the mass-printed books, no. When he visits operas and orchestras, he’ll charm someone to let him have a page from their show. Or pay for it, if they’re being difficult. He frames it later, and maybe transcribes it to piano if he feels up to it. Some of the figures Chamber has read about include: Frida Kahlo, Maximilien Robespierre, and Mozart.
