ME:   ely  is  clingy  &  co-dependent,  &  overly  affectionate. ALSO ME:   ely’s  worst  fear is  ABANDONMENT ( it  terrifies  him  ).  he  has  been  left  behind  so  many  times!   (  left  behind  by  those  he  trusted  with  his  life  ).   some  died  peacefully,  (  leaving  him  because  of  their  mortality  ),   but  they  are  rare  (  and it still hurt like hell  ).

most  of  them  were  killed,  and  some  turned  their  back  on  their  powers,  ( on him ).   and  each  time he  felt more  &  more  POWERLESS.   wondering  why  it  always  ended  the  same  way.  wondering  if  it  meant  he  wasn’t good  enough.  (  was  he  worthy  to  be  a  familiar?   was  he  STRONG  enough  to  protect  them?   was  he  a  FAILURE?   he  has  to be  if  they got  killed,   since  he  was  supposed  to  be  their  guide / their protector.   what  if  he  died  with  them?   losing  another  one  of  his  lives  in  the process?   it  ( he )  had  to  be  USELESS  if  it  ( he )  didn’t  save them. )  and  why  would  they  willingly leave?   he  had  to  do  something  WRONG,  didn’t  he?

cue  ely  getting  attached to  someone  &  being  TERRIFIED to  lose  them.   trying  to  show  them  how  much  they matter  to  him,  wanting  to  make  them  HAPPY,  ready  to  do  anything if  it  makes  them STAY,   always  cuddling  &  snuggling,   wanting  them  to  be  HIS   &  him  to  be  THEIRS,  seeing  outsider  as  competition / potential  threat…
