They weren’t exactly close to each other but she considers Sasuke as a friend and a classmate.Normally she would have been able to handle this kind of situtation on her own but the man was perisistant and he refused to leave her alone until Sasuke stepped in She was grateful to him for intervening and scaring the man off since the guy chose not to listen when she said no many times.
