Guys if you’re in Australia there are a heap of vigils for the Tamil family from Biloela across the country today. Please attend if you can, there’s ones in the major cities as well as at parliament house lawns. This breaks my heart but the people have power and we need to use it.

Melbourne, 2017.
Throwback to an Easter protest against how our government mistreats refugees. People come here to flee persecution and get stuck in indefinite detention in horrible conditions. Even when their claims as refugees are verified the government refuses to let them come to Australia. The government will even refuse to relocate them even when New Zealand offers to take them in Prime Minister after Prime Minister. High rates of depression and self harm affect men, women, and children as they languish in indefinite detention. The UN has labelled it torture. Innocent people suffer while the government demonises them. These are human beings our government has decided to either torture or turn back to persecution and potentially death. Several months on from this protest and nothing has changed. Our government has a hard line policy to be deliberately cruel as a deterrent, using misinformation about refugees to distract from the real problems that face us. This is our national shame and the world should know that we have imprisoned people for years with no charge and no known release date. #bringthemhere #refugees #manusisland #asylumseekers #auspol #nauru #indefinitedetention
There are currently Christian leaders from #Lovemakesaway suspended 4 stories above Julie Bishop’s office in Western Australia, protesting the abandonment of #Manus
Good protest today but we can't afford to relax for a moment. The 600 men on Manus are being threatened with armed force if they continue their peaceful protest. We need to double our efforts! #SOSManus #EndTheSiege #BringThemHere (at Melbourne)
Behrouz Boochani is a refugee journalist currently wrongfully imprisoned on Manus island detention centre by the Australian government. His crime? Fleeing a war torn country. The news is silent about this, but his tweets from the inside of the detention centre tell the truth: over 600 refugee men left with no water, no food, no power. Add your international voices to this, please, and help us #BringThemHere
