Went hiking in a random spot behind a $15.5 million house. It was so nice and quiet with the wind blowing through the grass it reminded me of one of those movies where someone goes to heaven and Enya is playing
Great Horned Owls at Night by Zed Via Flickr: This mated pair had just renewed their vows when I came upon them after sundown. That's the male on the right and the slightly larger female sitting top-left. Not long after I took this, I watched the male capture a mouse and present it to the female, perhaps as a way of solidifying their bond. Over the next month or so, they would mate several times before taking over some other bird's nest to raise a family of their own. The light was gone and I had to use my flash extender, so selective noise reduction has been applied to the background.
