"As I stepped outside this morning, a crisp, cool breeze brushed against my face. I breathed deeply, catching the sweet, earthy scent of muscadines winding their way up the trees beside my car. A few had fallen to the ground, and I smiled at the sight. Reaching out, I plucked one from a vine and slipped it into my mouth. The skin was firm beneath my teeth, but the burst of sweetness—tinged with a hint of sour—spread across my tongue. I spat the seed into the grass and lowered my gaze, where a single yellow leaf lay at my feet, its edges glowing with a fiery orange.

It is the end of August, and September waits just beyond the horizon. I can almost hear it calling to me—promising adventures, urging me toward new art, whispering of the books I’ll lose myself in. My heart swells with joy at the thought: autumn is nearly here."
