Press release - Soweto Kinch announced to compere Platform South Showcase - 24 March 2019
Jazz South is delighted to announce that Soweto Kinch will compere the Platform South Showcase during the Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival.
Renowned as a jazz broadcaster for the BBC, introducing the Platform South bands reflects the high calibre of jazz talent from across the south that will be performing during the free showcase for the public and promoters. This is an exciting engagement for Jazz South’s inaugural programme to support the development of jazz across the region.
The partnership with Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival ties in with Soweto’s performance of his own latest album project, Nonagram, on Sunday evening.
Colin Gorrie, Chief Executive of Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival says:
‘Jazz South offers an important new development for jazz and the music industry in our region, particularly in supporting the range of young, emerging and established talent representing the south. We are delighted to have their first Platform South Showcase as a partner at our Festival, and share their priorities as we both pursue the exciting new directions of the music of the twenty-first century.’
