A Video Compilation of Alastair Campbell’s first (and only) acting role as the Political Reporter in the film “The Vision Thing” (1993)
(anyways, enjoy this video compilation to all my moots, including the British Lolitics moots 🥰🥰, including : @cosm1cmicr0wave @just-ray @nulabyaoi @tbruinedmylife )
I only really watched the film cuz I came across it on Alastair Campbell’s IMDb page (yes he does have an IMDb page), and when I saw that he was also listed as an actor and the film he was in, I was VERY curious, so then I went to check it out.
The film, “The Vision Thing” (1993), is an feature length drama episode from a BBC anthology series called “Screenplays” which ran from 1986 to 1993, in which ALL of the episodes are feature length dramas covering different subjects and set in different settings, and also star/feature almost EVERY single British actor and actress known in existence (kinda like “Play For Today” or “Inside No. 9” in a way ig? At least in terms of the anthology format and the different actors in each episode I mean).
The film itself is quite interesting and weird (in a good way I mean). It’s basically about the Prime Minister (played by Richard Wilson) who thinks he’s hearing the voice of God, and because of that he resigns as a result, leading to his right-hand man George Salisbury (played by the WONDERFUL Derek Jacobi) getting the job as PM, and then political shenanigans occur thereafter.
I think my fave part of the film, (aside from Campbell ofc), is Derek Jacobi’s marvellous performance as Salisbury, his almost Shakespearean-esque acting and scheming and plotting is very memorable and amusing, and the voice he does is very smooth too <33.
As I mentioned in the video, the whole film is thankfully on YouTube, to which I will provide a link to it here incase you ever want to check it out for yourself! :
(also fun fact : when I was making my film review of the movie on Letterboxd, my written review is the *only* review on the film, like there’s no other reviews of it on Letterboxd lmao 🤣😭, so that probably makes me the first person to ever make a written review of the film on Letterboxd lol 😂)
