Souls Intertwined: FMA 03 fic
“I asked you for your name.” Ed let out a quiet ‘oh’ before continuing on his search. “My name is Edward Elric.” The alchemist answered as he entered a flat area, much like where he woke up. “That’s…that’s funny, actually,” It sounded like he was right on top of the voice. “Why do you say that?” Ed asked out of curiosity and to locate the voice. “Because my name is Edward Ellis.” Ed froze when he heard the voice’s name. 'No…no, that’s impossible! The other Edward is dead! I…I killed him.'

In which, Ed remains in Amestris, and the alternate Edward lives, but their souls are now intertwined.
