throwback to my October spread (ft. the cutest cinnamon roll in the world dowoon!) and my Crayola supertips that I got for Christmas! I hope everyone is having a great break!
Hey everyone! So this summer, I decided that I should be productive and study ahead for next year. I wanted to focus on improving my SAT score as well as study ahead for my Precalculus class (I tend to struggle with math during the beginning of every school year). As a result, I decided to start a little thing called Summer Study Sessions in order to remain focused and track the work that I have done so far. This is also a way of possibly giving inspo/advice for others.
Today, I want to talk about Khan Academy. I needed to find a website or app that could allow me to study/prepare for tests and future classes. Khan Academy is great because it literally has everything you might want to study! It has everything from early math to calculus bc (and everything in-between and outside of that) and various History, science, and test prep! They have videos on how to solve various problems as well as provide actually education about various topics, and this is followed by practice problems that you can do. I also want to mention that this is great for everyone, not just highschoolers.
I specifically use it to study for the SAT/PSAT and it’s amazing! It gives you practice questions that are similar to those that you’ll see on the actual test AND it gives you EIGHT (8) FREE FULL SAT TESTS that you can use in order to perfect your score. AND if you have a College Board account and have previously taken the PSAT or SAT, then you can link the account to your Khan Academy account, so you can specifically focus on what you missed. Did I mention that Khan Academy is free?
So if you’re like me and want to study ahead for a class or study for tests (SAT, MCAT, GMAT, etc.) then be sure to look into Khan Academy, it’s literally a lifesaver.
September 21, 2016 This was my bullet journal spread from last week. It was very eventful and full of important tasks I had to get done, and also birthday! Wishing a productive week for you all!
Hey everyone!
So I was watching a lot of back-to-school videos on how to be an A+ student, and a lot of the tips from the videos were “chew gum when studying and then chew the same flavored gum when taking a test to get an A!!!1!” and stuff like that. It's not that I don't think that those tips are good (do whatever works for you!) but I feel like all these tips are pointless if you're not willing to put in hard work and have the right mindset. You know how at the beginning of the year you feel super excited to go to school, and you know you'll have the best grades, and you feel super motivated? But then as the year goes on, it gets more difficult to continue getting the grades you got at the beginning of the year, and you feel stressed because that “motivation” at the beginning of the year? I like to compare this to having a new car (quick note: I've never had a car before so if what I say is inaccurate, please correct me!) The beginning of the year is like having a new car. You have the motivation to “drive” you on, and because you haven't been through any tough assignments yet, it's easier to accomplish your goals and get good grades, just like how it's easier for you to drive a car because the car doesn't have any miles on it. But, as the year continues, and that “motivation” goes away, you struggle to continue getting decent grades and reaching your goals. You feel tired, and you want to give up because you feel like you can't do it anymore. As a car gets older, the battery starts to die, the tired start to wear down, and it becomes a little difficult to drive that car. So what do you have to do? You have to fix those tires and replace the battery. In your academics, you have to fix your attitude and replace your mindset. Yes, it's hard, but you cannot give up! Even though it's difficult, you must not give up. When the motivation fades, you have to put in hard work and have discipline, because those two things will be the only things that can move you forward. Of course there will be days where you need to take a break— which is fine, because we are human— but overall, you need to make sure that you continue making progress to reach whatever goal you have for yourself. So my back-to-school advice? Have discipline/the right mindset, and work hard from day one. Lol, sorry if that sounded so serious! I just wanted to make a point!
Random Thoughts #1
I always say to myself “wow, look at your friends, and then look at you, you're so stupid” but sometimes I forget that I'm actually kinda smart, I'm just afraid to ask questions and make mistakes. Does anyone else feel this way?
Hey guys, do you know any high school or IB (past, present, and future) studyblrs I could follow? This would help a lot, thank you so much!
HEY EVERYONE!
I wanted to tell everyone what I would be posting on here, because I don't think I mentioned this on my introduction post! So, I'll be posting original content that focuses on... •study tips! •books that I'm reading atm •my bullet journal (weekly/monthly spreads or other various page I decide to include) •homework and notes •and other stuff! Because I'm on summer break, I probably won't have as many original posts other than tips that I think are useful, but I wanted to let you know what I'd be doing! See you soon!
