Lol I was just told my laziness is addicting. That my own laziness sucks away everyone's energy so all they think is 'I don't want to do that today' and 'I don't want to move' and honestly that's kind of accurate
Lmao I just said to my mom 'this month has been going on for three years' and she almost dropoed her phone she was laughing so hard
I kind of want to start a side blog. However this blog would focus primarily about myths and legends and old stories of ancient cultures and each post would focus on one myth from one culture. So for example one of the most well known myths of Helenism(A.K.A Greek Mythology) about the abduction of Persephone and the making of the seasons.
I would focus first on the most widely known aspects of the story, then venture into the less known versions, and then maybe pick apart symbolism of the story's details. But i would do myths abd legends from around the world and throughout history too. Roman Mythology. Egyptian. Cherokee. Chinese. Japanese. Aztec. The works you know? I just don't know if anyone would actually care enough to follow along? I want to do something more that just run a sporadically posted fanfic blog(voltron primarily atm) and It would be an educational thing while also exploring cultures other than my own so It would be extremely inclusive as well.
It would probably be called brittysaucemyths or brittysaucelegends or something like that. And i would post once a week, then work up to more if it gains popularity. Would anyone be interested in that?
Voltron Translate
So I was organizing my google docs so it isn’t so cluttered and was fixing a fic of mine called Acting is Easy, Loving is harder, which is an acting Au (duh) and I’ve also been learning some Spanish lately right? So I recognized the character Hunk plays in the story’s nickname Suyo (Full name Tsuyoshi) as a Spanish word and then went wild with google translate and guys. I’m dying. I started typing as I learned right after Kuron so every word and name on there with the parenthesis have my actual reactions.
Zarkon- Hausa (don’t know that language but I love it now) for Tramps
Suyo- Spanish for Yours
Para(Pidge’s character)- Spanish for For
Farla (Allura’s character)- Italian for It
Romelle- Southern Sotho(??) for Send
Amue (Romelle’s character) doesn’t translate to anything but the pronunciation is ey-moo
Kuron- Albanian for Cures
Antok- Filipino for fucking Party (I died laughing for this one)
Ulaz- Bosnian for Entrance
Shirogane- Japanese for Platinum (love it)
Kogane- Japanese for Golden (I dig it)
Allura- Maltese for Then
Shiro- Japanese for White
Galra- Hungarian for GalR (what the Fuck does that mean?)
Altean- Basque (??) for In Another
Olkari- Somali for Tutor (that works)
Thace- Scottish Gaelic for Support (that fits his character pretty well actually)
Zeppo(as in Emperor Zeppo of the Drule Empire, not of VLD but one of the older ones)- Italian for Packed (there’s a lot more from the old versions but this was the only one I really cared to find out about and now I’m upset that it’s so boring)
Acxa- Esperanto for Go On
Ezor- Bulgarian for Pond (why??)
The motto of the Empire Vrepit sa- Vrepit alone is Bulgarian for Will Hang, Vrepit Sa is Bulgarian for They Are Bored (honestly this is my favorite as of this point)
Prorok (as in the Prorok RoBeast)- Russian for Prophet (cool but like, so doesn’t fit right)
Komar (as in the planet killing death ray Haggar made)- Polish for Mosquito (and it totally fits)
Arusian- Malay for Flow
Lubos (as in the original ruler of Olkarion who turned out to be a scumbag)- Filipino for Totally (do what now??)
Plaxum- Latin for Plaxo (and I’m not sure what that means)
Oh. My. God.
Unilu- Yoruba for fucking Urine (ahahahahah!)
Alright that’s all I’ve got and this has been the most wonderful discovery I’ve ever made. Thanks for following along this wild ride. I’m very disappointed about how many names and words don’t translate or are just plain names from other cultures or whatever else.
