Briza@Kass: "What's your deal with beating up a kid? Don't you want to beat up a Hydreigon or get some Deino from Melemele island or something? That kid ain't gonna give a challenge to a big guy like you. You're wasting your time and energy on something better."
...”but I can tell you about my tribe and the chief.”
The leader of the Nemua Tribe i-is Chief Makai, and he’s really great! Everyone in the t-tribe loves him. He’s probably the smartest Pokemon I’ve ever m-met, he knows everyone’s name and t-tries to spend some time with everyone to learn about them, and he’s really, really strong. And he’s a hero! He even saved M-Mother’s life back when she was my age!”
“B-but along with the chief, he also has some of his family and other Primarina in the tribe to help him make decisions on stuff. Th-that’s kind of a new thing. It used to be that the chief m-made all the decisions, but a lot of really bad stuff happened a long time ago, and after the Fall, my ancestors decided to change that. Even Chief Makai n-never believed in giving one Pokemon that much power.”
“Aside f-from them, everyone else more or less has the same role d-depending on gender. The male Primarina are w-warriors that protect the Tribe, while the female Primarina help r-raise the Popplio and Brionne - you know, play with them, gather food, t-teach them how to catch fish and sing and all that. The males d-don’t really have anything to do with the Popplio and Brionne except during the festivals or wh-when one is in danger.” Leilani chuckles nervously. “That’s happened to Kai and m-me a few times, whenever he wanted to go on an adventure.”
“A-and as for how the chief is chosen, it’s passed down from Akua, the founder of the Nemuan Tribe. The chief cane be either male or female and is a-always the oldest child, because the oldest child is the one that gets most of Akua’s power to protect the tribe. But l-like I said, Chief Makai never believed that one Pokemon should possess that much power, so he only used it wh-when he absolutely needed to.”
