Why tumblr?
Part of the assignment was to research the social media sites available, and decide on one that would represent my website via a proper blog. The three sites I fished through were Facebook, tumblr, and Wordpress. Facebook, though very simple to use and organize, is hardly customizable. The most one can do is change the profile picture, and cover photo. It makes it difficult to maintain a flow between the website and the blog. Wordpress seemed a prime choice at the time, since I'd heard it was extremely customizable and easy to use. Little did I know, there was very little one could do and add in unless they were a premium member. This is why I chose tumblr. It's easy, though it is a little picky over exactly what I can and can't do since I'm not a master of CSS, and it provides me with a layout that can match my website rather decently. Not to mention, tumblr is a great way for sharing art and writing, as opposed to facebook. Using a facebook page is easy, but only 10-15% of those who "like" you will actually be able to see your posts at a time, unless adjusting some features. When something is posted on tumblr, it shows up in the feed of the followers. The only reason they might not see it, is because their feed is clogged with all the other blogs they follow. Wordpress: I can't say too much for it, since I didn't stick around long enough to discover the community, after I found that I was still rather limited. Verdict: tumblr is supreme.
