Daryl stepped into the clearing carefully, scanning the front of the small cabin before moving towards the porch. The curtains were drawn and the chimney cold, she probably wasn’t home. Good, their past interactions had been tense at best, but she was out here alone too, and he had more food then usual today. He opens the screen door, a chair and dwindling pile of firewood are the only things on the porch. Instead of stepping up onto the porch he props the door open and slides three of the rabbits off his belt. 

He tosses them one at a time at the base of the front door before he lets the screen door slam shut. Turning on his heel to hurry back into the woods he jumps. Leah. She’d moved up quietly behind him and was stood with her arms crossed. 

“I - I know ya don’ need help or nothin’.” He mutters, taking a step to the side to navigate around her. “I caught a lot in the snare’s is all. Thought ya an’ Dog might like some.”

Faith found it so much more fun to do errands for the Mayor than it ever was to follow Wesley’s notes and rules for patrol. Too many restrictions there- now, Faith, you are not to damage any domestic property, or be too violent to the demons, or swear, or have any sort of fun. Getting Watchers Council hand-me-downs after she’d lost a guardian and gotten duped by the other. With the Mayor, the Slayer was top dog. Dusted Mr. Trick and became Wilkins’ right-hand man, finally given the respect and responsibility she deserved.

More than anything, he trusted her strength and dedication to get the job done the way she saw fit to. He treated her like a professional, so long as she was helping him prepare for the Ascension. So what if a few bumps and bruises happened along the way- if the victims were the lesser demons, no one would blink an eye. The Scoobies called her the Mayor’s lap dog, but joke was on them- this dog was holding its own leash while they all chased their own tails.

Tonight, she was out back by the Overland Charter bus station, waiting for a particular sensitive package handoff in the dark and undead of night. Last bus of the night, old mystic man had some sort of artifact that would help the Mayor... become... or ward off... She was fuzzy on the specifics of this ritual carving versus the last one, but they were all coming together nicely for the big day, so she didn’t care. Just had to get the thing and get gone. Except for one little nuisance, like a blonde hair down her shirt making Faith uncomfortable.

“Hey, sign says no loitering,” she said, raising her voice across the near-empty parking lot at the perky, perfect little Slayer who thought she was always going to be the hero. Buffy. Well, it was too late to stop tonight’s mission, no matter how hard she wanted to save the day. “You’ll get gone if you know what’s good for you. But wait- you only seem to know what’s good for everyone else, huh?”

Give Me Something || Carol & Daryl || @brknlostsouls​

Carol was finding it harder and harder to get away from the Kingdom. Henry kept her plenty busy with trying to keep him from getting himself hurt, eaten, or killed. It took him some time to realize that just because he thought it was a good idea for Ezekiel, who he saw as his Dad, and herself to be together romantically that she didn't feel that way about Ezekiel. Once that was dealt with, then their relationship truly began to take off.

But today she had set aside for herself, and she wanted to spend that time with the one person that made her feel as if she didn't have to give more of herself than she had to give. Daryl.

She hurried to the creek that they'd often met across the water from to see if he was anywhere near and found it empty. Her lips turned down into a frown as she moved along the bank until she found a space where she could easily jump across so that her boots wouldn't be soaking wet her entire time out in the woods. She found his camp empty and that only deepened the from on her face.

It took a couple of hours before she found him sitting on the steps of an abandoned cabin. She made sure he heard her coming so that she wouldn't get a bolt through the eye socket. "Pookie, do you know how hard it is to find you?" she teased.

"It still hard being the new girl?" Billy asked Nancy. He had volunteered to help the new girl get caught up and it evolved into a friendship. Nancy was interesting and that was more than what others at school had. He liked figuring out how her mind worked and she was intriguing. "I can kick some ass if people are given ya' shit."

“This is very messy.”He commented out loud to Buffy as he grabbed a slice of pizza from his plate, it was his first time trying pizza and from what Buffy told him, he needed to eat it with his hands instead of using the utensils the restaurant had provided them. He took a bite, then slowly chewed it to savor it but sadly all he could taste were molecules more than anything else, his kind weren’t made to eat any food but as they came here, he had wanted to try it, plus not eating something in a restaurant would appear odd to the humans so he had to blend in.

“It’s very...tasty.”He finished the slice that was in his hand, offering Buffy a smile as he looked at her briefly before he took another slice.”I wish I could really taste it.”He noted out loud but this time more quietly to not attract any intention.”I guess Father never thought that we would eventually get to Earth and eat your food when he made us.”

Ryder knew how attractive he was, and if you looked at him even for just a moment, you could tell that he knew. Ryder was the CEO of a successful company, he had money and looks and zero modesty. His perfectly tailored three piece suit was rather obviously expensive. He was meticulously well kept. Nails filed, hair neat, and he smelled of Burberry.

He walked briskly through the hallways of the office building heading for his private elevator up to his office. He walked passed one of his department heads. At first he didn't stop but something caught his eye and he needed a second look. He stopped cold in his tracks. He heard his department head curse under his breath, no doubt thinking he did something wrong. Ryder was known for being unpredictable in his moods, small things could set him off yet sometimes he brushed off big things. He was truly hard for them to understand. He turned sharply in his heel and walked back as his eyes fell on a pretty little blonde woman walking behind him. He'd never seen her before. He knew immediately she wasn't normal. He didn't know what was abnormal about her though.

Ryder flashed a thousand watt smile, "I don't know you, I take pride in knowing all of my employees names and faces but I definitely would have noticed you before," he said smoothly tilting his head ever so slightly in curiously. Ryan Bosley, the Department head that had her in tow cleared his throat,and gave him a look that told Ryder he was supposed to behave. Ryder wasn't sure he appreciated that look either,"Mr. McLane, This is Ms. Buffy Summers, she's interviewing with us today," he said firmly. Bosley was new to the company himself, he'd only been there for ten months. He didn't know much about how Ryder could get, "Mr. Bosley may I have a moment of your time?" Ryder asked with a congenial tone that hid his disapproval.

"With all do respect, Sir I am clearly rather busy at the moment, Ryan told him and Ryder kept the smile on his face and nodded.

"I understand, if you're so busy that you cannot even spare a moment for the man that signs your paychecks, that means I work you too hard, let me take this task off your hands so that you may do one of your many other tasks," He reached out and plucked Buffy's file from the man's hand and his eyes focused on Buffy," Ryder McLane CEO of Surgical Innovations," he held out his hand to her as he introduced himself.
