Why Do Brand Name Clothing Articles Use Metal Logos!?
So the other day I was trying to buy a hat for this girl (<3 u bb) I met at the Pump last Tuesday and came across the hat below.
The first thing I noticed about this besides the fact that it's a total eyesore is that the font on the beak is directly from Megadeth. I was shocked, but this isn't the first time I've seen this before. Clothing brands seem to use heavy metal fonts quite a bit. The most popular seem to be Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, and Iron Maiden (especially Maiden), because their fonts are so kewl.
Kewl shirt and goatee combonation bro. I hope someday we can chill and listen to Hinder.
This isn't even like a butthurt "OMG KISS IS WAY TOO GOOD FOR SOME SHIT CORPORATE BRAND! I BET HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHO PAUL STANLEY IS!" type of question but just a flat out "why"? It's not like metal is a really cool genre to listen to (I'm a huge metalhead but some facts must be faced). Also why would someone even buy something like this? Is it like people think "Man I really love Ed Hardy but Killing is My Business is the best album of all time, wat do?" and then get an Ed Hardy/Megadeth font hat to get the best of both worlds? I don't think this is the case because that is super ridiculous, but hey you never know. It's just mind bottling to me, is it really so hard for a company to come up with an original logo? If you want a shirt with a KISS logo on it (presumably because you are balding and just got out of a really tough divorce), then why not just buy a KISS shirt?? Maybe I am just over-thinking this; perhaps brand name clothing with metal/band fonts is just one of those things that just exist and nobody really has an opinion on, like flavorless yogurt or Anne Hathaway. In the mean time, I wonder if I can get an Ed Hardy shirt with a Strangled Carcass font!?
