I am extremely proud to join Liquid Force Team !!! I'm excited to open that new chapter, and can't wait to see what the future brings !
I have already started riding with my new kites, and they are amazing ! This season I will be riding HiFi-X2 kites, and an 136 Element board. There is still some work ahead, but I have a feeling that this change is going to open many doors in my tricks, power, and style.
Next week I will head for a training trip, and hopefully come back with new tricks, new video clips, and new memories. Follow me on facebook at www.facebook.com/helenabrochocka and on instagram helenabeatz to stay up to date with my new adventures on my new gear !
This album features virtuosic and highly expressive new music for the Double Bass, written by two Polish composers. It contains the premiere recordings of works by award-winning composer Katarzyna Brochocka, as well as a novel interpretation of a unique piece by forgotten genius Mieczyslaw Weinberg. Polish double bassist Karol Kowal has chosen challenging repertoire for his debut album, recorded…
Last month I have completed my university term in Canada, and travelled straight to Egypt for the fourth PKRA tour stop of the year. It was my second time in Soma Bay, but this time the place looked completely different. When I went there back in may, I mainly rode my 13m, and sometimes still felt a bit underpowered. I don’t know what it is, but mother nature always knows when the PKRA is about to kick off, and for some reason she really likes to mess with us. Every time we go to a perfect spot, it turns into a crazy washing machine as soon as the green flag for the first heat goes up. This time was no different, and we got a sandstorm just in time for the event. The wind during the comp was peaking around 43 knots, with huge gusts and a waist high chop ! I couldn’t recognise this place !
A lot of riders turned up to the comp, so once again we had to run qualifiers, to determine who gets the spot in the main event. According to the new rules, you need to win one of the qualifying rounds in order to get into the main event. I got second in my first heat, and first in the second one, which got me a spot in the single elimination ladder. I was quite stressed about, it since coming straight from school I didn’t have any time to prepare. Winning that heat was a great relief.
Although the trials went well, I wasn’t so lucky in the singles. The tradition of me tangling my kite in a heat is an essential part of each comp lately. Happened to me in Sicily, Morocco, and now it was time for Egypt ! In the second minute of the heat i crashed, and my kite tangled in my lines, so I had to leave the water when the green flag was still up. I got my second chance in the doubles, where I rode against Manuela Jungo, but she rode well, and took the win in that one.
This was a great event, and I hope I will get a chance to improve my result in that place next year. I am also really stoked for Karolina and Christophe for taking first places, It is great to see two of my favourite people in the world rocking the podium, and obviously that gave us a legit reason to celebrate ! We also got a chance to shred altogether after the comp was over, and that’s always the best way to relieve the stress !
