brodingershat replied to your post:To people who complain about outlining and...
How do you mean? You have issues with ideas or pacing or general construction of a linear narrative? (I plan vaguely in my head but I don’t tend to outline anything I write on paper. Ever.)
The third one, I think. I have trouble figuring out the proper sequence of events, and I get bored when I try to outline it. Usually when I start writing I have two or three vivid scenes in my head and a vague sense of where I'm going and what the main conflict will be, but no real sense of linear events. I know that having an outline helps me, so I really want one--but I get burned out and demotivated trying to make one. It makes me feel disconnected from the work.
It's not a big problem in fanfiction because I can rely so heavily on romance and canon, but in my original work I end up wasting a lot of time writing and rewriting because I'm figuring out a lot of the conflict and development as I go along. (Have you ever written dialogue and realized halfway through it's just you talking to yourself through the characters, trying to figure out what happens next? I have. Way too often.)
Mainly I just wish that planning things out scene by scene didn't make me feel like someone replaced my brain with a huge cotton ball and told me to think. I get jealous of people who are excited by ideas and outlines and brainstorming sessions instead of intimidated by them. Obviously these are all things I can and should work through and improve at... but it's nice to whine now and then, and I'm wondering if I should rely more on others instead of just listening to the squeak of the hamster wheel in my own head.

brodingershat replied to your post “i don’t even know why but I’m weirdly nervous for the con tomorrow”
What con? Also, it'll be better once you're actually there, rather than suffering anticipation.
otakuthon in montreal
it was the first con i ever went to so i'm taking my younger sister there for her first and taking the opportunity to show off marco again
brodingershat replied to your post: “lmao I’m not going anywhere tomorrow morning thanks Russian embassy xo”:
Wait, what?
I've been trying to apply for a Russian visa for a month and they're basically botching the whole process. The first time I sent in everything I needed, they said I left out 3 papers (that were not mentioned on the phone or the website). After making my revisions, they said there was a problem with my invitation (yes you need an invitation to Russia) because it didn't indicate my purpose of travel. Even though its says on the top in bold black letters "TOURIST VOUCHER"
and finally, with my flight to Calgary tomorrow morning, the embassy that said they sent back my passport did not in fact send back my passport.
So until I get it back, my trip is postponed.

"Tracks," like train tracks. Hey, tracks, you got a minute?
OMG I HAD BRACES IN 9TH-10TH GRADE AND PEOPLE USED TO CALL ME THAT you are bringing back all of these repressed memories bless. But ahahaha yeah, I think I might like "Tracks" better than "Braceface". It sounds more Levi-esque.
