      ‘ i’d probably like this movie more. ’ klaus collapses onto the couch beside vincent, worming himself into the small amount of space left between the other and the arm of the couch with a hum. god, he was cold. uncaring of personal space, he makes himself comfortable before grinning over at his companion. ‘ i could be that stoned if you’d let me smoke in here. ’ a pout, though there’s no heat to his words as he turns to watch the television.

         water splashed onto the floor every few seconds, bubbles nearly falling over the edges of the tub with each movement of their bodies but despite the mess that would be left after . . . marie was happy. nimble fingers tug gently through vincent’s hair, parting the strands with practiced ease as he leans further back ‘gainst her chest. ‘ can you turn the music back on, vince? ’ lips press against the unblemished skin of of his shoulder, lingering for only a moment before leaning back to grab the bottle of shampoo sitting on the floor beside the tub.

         it was CHILDISH, marie knew that, but the kid within her delighted at the sight of the mass of blankets sloppily constructed between the couch and the arm chair in their living room. it was messy and looked about five seconds from collapsing on itself but it was . . . cute. vincent sat within it, smiling nervously up at her and within seconds she was on hands and knees, crawling in beside him with a laugh. 

        ‘ what are you doing? ’ there’s no malice to her words, a smile still lingering on her face as she curls up into the small space beside vincent with ease. knees rising to her chest, head falling to rest upon his shoulder with a sort of natural ease.

            music floats in quietly from the living room, sinatra’s crooing voice flitting through the air as marie cleans up the dishes from the earlier meal. fingers dip into the warm water, a smile stretching across her face when hands tug gently at the back of her shirt. ‘ aren’t you supposed to be showering? ’ marie flicks the water from her hands, following the tug into his arms without resistance.

            a laugh escapes her, carefree and light when vincent pulls her closer and arms automatically rise to loop ‘round his neck. ‘ is this a behavioral exercise? ’ cheeky grin offered up to him, swaying to the music as fingers tangle into the curls at the back of vincent’s neck.

        ‘ i . . . ’ words seemed to fail her, nervous fingers plucking at a stray thread dangling from frayed jeans as eyes dart away from the worried gaze thrown her way. for once, she doesn’t pull away from his touch even as his fingers brush the bare skin of her shoulder. ‘ . . . i’m not. ’ marie whispers the words, barely audible into the air between them. maybe it was a lie, maybe it wasn’t. even she wasn’t sure, but she knew one thing with absolute certainty. vincent was her hope.
